Following on from the previous day’s solar eclipse, it was appropriate to investigate some of the secrets of the sun.

We learned that a fleet of spacecraft have been launched over the years to monitor and observe the sun, collecting information on Solar flares, coronal mass ejections and the solar wind.

One such is NASA’s Parker Solar Probe, launched in 2018 is the first spacecraft to fly into the low solar corona with the help of a solar shield. It was to assess the structure and dynamics of the Sun's coronal plasma and its magnetic field, the energy flow that heats the solar corona and impels the solar wind.
