Setting out on a chilly and misty day we wandered up towards the site of the Starring pipe works and passed the old Birch Hill lodge.
Lots of snow remaining on the ground and frozen hard in places, the weather conditions did not allow good views of our surroundings.
We included footpaths over East hill, past Middlewood farm and down to Barkers wood back returning to the start point.
Intermittent snow flurries added to the interest with a slight brightening revealing a little blue sky towards the end of our walk.
Our total distance was 5.3km with 2.1km uphill and 2.3km downhill, completed in 2.13hrs.
