Littleborough

October 2024 walk

Setting out from Bluebell Farm on Bluebell lane we passed Coppy Stone Farm and onwards towards Hartley Royd Estate, an early 17th century property owned by John Fielden and his wife Elizabeth in 1724, incorporating the Old Waterhouse and Dove Cottage, and onto the recently resurfaced “yellow brick road” heading towards, but not reaching, Bridestones.

We now turn to view spectacular panorama in bright sunshine, heading past Rake Hey Farm and towards Orchan rocks. Heading over Hudson moor we pass a Quaker cottage, travel up wittonstall clough to the abandoned 18th century Shore Baptist Chapel, The Manse and Shore Fold Farm before returning to the start point.

A total distance of 6.4km, 2.6km uphill to a height of 406 metres, 2.7 downhill with a 1.2 km flat section completed in 2hrs 30 minutes. Our lowest point was 279 m and we ascended 191 m and descended 218 m.

Here are a few photos of the walk:
