A good turnout for today's walk starting from the lay-by at High Peak on the Blackstone edge old road, we set off south along Rough road (Pennine Bridleway).
Approaching Syke moor we met 2 walkers from New Zealand before turning East onto Clegg moor and started a long uphill climb, visiting Dry Mere and passing Hoar Edge rakes and dropping down towards the Broad Head drain where we stopped for light refreshments. A relatively flat Northerly walk along the drain took us past Blackstone Edge Pasture and finally to the junction with the "old Roman road".
At this point we travel Westerly down the Roman Road and onto the old packhorse route back to our start point.
A total distance of 4.3 miles (7km) of which 1.7 miles were uphill and 1 mile flat.
