Starting from our usual meeting point we once again drove to the Long Causeway (Kebs Road) almost to the County Border and in beautiful weather headed North towards Shedden Clough Limestone Hushings.

We veered North Easterly towards Cant Clough Reservoir past Cant Clough farm and North Westerly onto the Pennine Bridleway where we were treated to the delights of various birdsong. Passing the tiny village containing Hurstwood Hall, built in 1579 by Barnard Towneley. Tattersall’s House is the oldest building in the village, but Spenser’s House and Hurstwood Hall which are only slightly younger.

Leaving Hurstwood we turn South West and over Foxstones bridge we then turned South east towards Crow Holes on the Burnley way, past Middle Pasture farm and on to Shedden Heys.

A slight detour here to view the Lime Kiln and then back on a Southerly direction back to the parking spot.
