Our aim is to enjoy shared music. We have a wide spread of experience in our current line up, ranging from lifelong players to guitar beginners. A lot of our choices are simple 2 or 3 chord songs, usually well known popular songs selected by those in our group and from previously played songs.
As a group we provide each other with guidance, help and support where needed. No pressure! Discussions and exercises often take place during our sessions on how to hold down chords, short cuts on how to make difficult chords easy, common chord progressions, simple note enhancements to chords, guitar riffs etc. We also encourage sharing of technical and advanced guitar techniques.
All that is needed is a guitar and a desire to learn or share guitar playing skills. Oh and of course a tendency to enjoy the music. The music we play are generally hits from pop, rock & roll, folk, R & B as well as traditional songs. We all join in the singing as best we can so there is no necessity to “have a singing voice”!
Guitar group 2 was set up as an overflow class due to large numbers of members in the original guitar group. As such we are looking forward to recruiting more members. Please contact us through this webpage or turn up at Milnrow Library after 3pm and just sit in on our session if you wish to see what goes on before committing.
Here is an example : (Neil Young - Heart of Gold).
